Power at Peacock Point
Feb 23, 2010 | 2 CommentsWent for a Sunday drive this past weekend through Haldimand county. From Hamilton the hubby & I began our excursion by making our way through Caledonia. We stopped for a bit to grab some pizza for lunch and check out some Antiques at the Haldimand House by the historic Caledonia Bridge. I was very glad to find a beautiful ornate mirror which I had been on the hunt for to replace the very blah one I’d been using in my bedroom for years. I made a note of definitely wanting to return here when the light & weather is a bit nicer to get some shots of the bridge and town.
From here we pressed on through the countryside with the lake as our destination, admiring the houses along the way. We stopped by a seasonal variety store in a little lakeside cottage town called Peacock Point and found our way down to the water. The sun was beaming down and despite the fact that we were on an icy lake in February, it was really warm and lovely. To our west was a clear yet sorta eerie view of the Nanticoke Power Plant. I couldn’t help but feel a little bit uneasy and nervous to breathe deeply being so close to it. After a while we said bye to the lake, hopped back in the van and made our way home :)

Thanks John,
Sure you can link here :)
If you are using a very old browser (Internet explorer in particular) it might be making some of the background images go wonky which is what you’re probably seeing. Best to upgrade and I highly recommend the Firefox browser as it’s way better and less buggy than IE. http://www.firefox.com

Hi,
Came across this in a Google search. Amazing pictures. You are an excellent photographer. I stumbled across Peacock Point in a similar fashion 2 years ago and fell in love with the area. An hour from Toronto and priced at a point where you can find a place for under $100K if you like.
I bought a cottage there last July and love the peace of the area. I was concerned about the power plant as well, but find the winds carry it the other way.
Can I link this blog page to my website? I have just started building it and your pictures do the place proud. Would you allow this?
Secondly, I am not sure if it is my browser or this is the way you planned it, but the white font on the light blue background is almost not readable unless I highlight the test with my mouse….
